Young Professionals Atelier: MORE Than Words

Young professionals and college students with special interests in LGBTQ+ and Feminist perspectives on art are invited to visit the Westport Arts Center's MORE Than Words exhibition for a tour led by the Director of Education, Lindsay Heffernan, followed by a studio workshop led by Noah Steinman, a local Queer artist and WAC's Education Assistant. This workshop will focus on generating artwork that relates to identity, institutional oppression, and art as activism. The evening will wrap up with light refreshments.

MORE Than Words examines the topics of power, oppression, and bullying within a broad cultural context that considers how perceived imbalances of social, physical, or political power can be abused to marginalize others. Participating artists include Cory Arcangel, Andrea Bowers, Cary Leibowitz, John Currin, Theaster Gates, Leon Golub, Francisco Goya, Keith Haring, Jenny Holzer, Barbara Kruger, Daniel Joseph Martinez, Arnold Mesches, Donald Moffett, Beverly Semmes, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Kara Walker, Gillian Wearing, and Lisa Yuskavage.

This event is free and open to the public thanks to the generous support of the Triangle Community Center. Advance registration is encouraged as space is limited.
