Triangle Community Center teams up with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and the You Can Play Project

Triangle Community Center teams up with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and the You Can Play Project to fight homophobia in sports.

Bridgeport, CT December 20, 2013: Triangle Community Center (TCC) has announced that this March it will be teaming up with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and the You Can Play Project to fight homophobia in sports. TCC will be partnering with the two other organizations on their second annual You Can Play Day on March 2, 2014. The purpose of the event is to promote equality, respect and safety for all athletes, regardless of sexual orientation.

 

You Can Play Day will take place at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, CT, home of the Sound Tigers, and will include a panel discussion with LGBT athletes, a special You Can Play Bridgeport Sound Tigers game against the Utica Comets, and post-game play by the NYC Gay Men’s Hockey League. All proceeds from the event will go towards benefiting the ongoing missions of the You Can Play Project and the Triangle Community Center.

The event has an expected attendance of over 6000 people. Tickets can be purchased online on TCC’s website, www.ctgay.org for $20 per ticket which includes entry into all You Can Play Day activities at the Webster Bank Arena on March 2, 2014 including the Sound Tigers game. TCC and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers are also seeking local companies and organizations interested in partnering as a sponsor of the event.
