Jonathan Allen, of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, has been singing for as long as he can remember. Growing up Jonathan used his love for music as a respite from the troubles he faced in his daily life. He found his escape in such musical greats as Luciano Pavarotti, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross and the list goes on. After coming out to his family when he was 13, Jonathan endured a great deal of backlash from them. All efforts to elevate his music career were halted by his parents, he could no longer have male friends around, and he was even subjected to Christian Conversion Counseling. After all of this, in 2011 on his 18th birthday, Jonathan was kicked out of his home for being gay. In 2012 Jonathan made a decision to audition for America’s Got Talent. He was chosen to do a live audition in New Orleans for the main judges for 2013’s Season 8 of the hit show, and they loved him! Jonathan received a standing ovation from all judges, even causing host Nick Cannon to get teary eyed. Jonathan went on to perform in the Vegas rounds, and from there he was on his way to the Semifinals in New York at the famed Radio City Music Hall.
Since his performances on America’s Got Talent Jonathan has had opportunities to sing and spread hope and love across the community. From shows in Los Angeles to Philadelphia, just to name a couple, Jonathan has been blessed with the ability to share his gift and promote love and acceptance wherever he goes.
More recently Jonathan was invited on a 3-week tour to sing before the people, and some members of the Royal Family in the Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia. This is an astonishing accomplishment as Jonathan was informed on his arrival that he is the first ever openly gay singer to be invited to the Kingdom, as well as the first person ever to perform and introduce Opera to the people of Saudi Arabia.
