The vigil brings together local elected officials including Mayor Harry Rilling of Norwalk and Senator Bob Duff, faith leaders from the Unitarian Universalist Society, the Sikh faith, the secular movement, Christian traditions, the Muslim community, and local Jewish congregations.  The vigil will feature readings of the names of those who were killed at Pulse Nightclub, remarks from local officials and leaders in the LGBTQ community, musical selections by local organizations, and for Muslims in attendance, a breaking of the day’s Ramadan fast.

The event will feature prayer services led by local faith leaders, including the Reverends Kate Heichler, Daniel Schlorff, and Frances Sink, Azra Asaduddin, Inni Kaur Dhingra, and others. Each of these people represent different faiths and schools of thought. They came together organize Thursday’s vigil wishing to show religious and spiritual unity in support of the LGBTQ community and honoring the lives lost. Representing the local LGBTQ community is Anthony Crisci, Executive Director of Triangle Community Center, Fairfield County’s LGBTQ community center. The vigil will also focus on the experience of LGBTQ people of color with voices from the Latino community.
