On Sunday, April 23rd, the LGBTQ community and its allies will join together in Bethel to celebrate Pride in a parade and festival. Triangle Community Center is a proud sponsor of this event for our neighbors in northern Fairfield County, and a TCC contingency will be organizing on Facebook to march in the parade.
...and it all started with two Bethel middle school students.
According to the event page and an article posted to Kicks 105.5 by Linda G.:
Hailey Gesler and her friend Marcella Antunes are organizing this parade in the town of Bethel for all to come, speak, and show support for others in our community that need a place to feel like they can be themselves.
Their goal is to make the town of Bethel a welcoming community of support where people from all walks of life can feel at home.
Community members in the Danbury area can also come to this event to hear about the LGBTQ events and happenings in northern Fairfield County through Triangle Community Center, including family friendly events like mini-golf and roller skating and TWIST, which happens every month at Empire Szechuan in Bethel.
Congratulations and thank you to the two young organizers of this Pride event. We will be updating this blog post after the event with pictures and quotes from the event! Happy Pride!
