A support group for LGBT people and their caregivers with Multiple Sclerosis or other physical disabilities,* this comfortable and safe place offers LGBTQ persons an open forum to discuss life topics affecting their overall health and well-being. Examples of some of the stories and insights talked about are dynamics within families, relationships, caregivers, careers, societal discrimination, neglect, and medication side effects. Members transcend all demographic backgrounds and bond through their common experiences, forming friendships. This Ability members not only learn more about their own health and the health complications of their peers, but are left feeling more informed and uplifted. Participants can share their experiences and feel understood and come to terms with their own identities. Self acceptance is a core value of this group.
*Disability impairments can include orthopedic, visual, speech and hearing impairments, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, muscular dystrophy, Lyme Disease, and multiple sclerosis.
