About the program:

This is a monthly community dinner that welcomes LGBTQ youth ages 13 to 17 and their friends. LGBTQ youth who attend this group can expect to sit down together with their peers over a meal, enjoy themselves, and engage in community conversation about things that matter to them. The goal of this program is to foster friendship, understanding, and community among the LGBTQ youth in Norwalk and the surrounding areas.

Q: How do I sign up to come?

A: You can sign up by filling out this short online form, email Claude@CTPrideCenter.org, or call us at 203-853-0600 x 106.

 

Q: What kind of food do we eat? What if I have special dietary restrictions?

A: We will take note of any dietary restrictions when you sign up. This event is meant to mimic sitting down to a healthy and filling meal for a holiday gathering or family dinner. There will be meat, vegetables, beverages, sides, desserts, and more! Come hungry!

 

About the facilitator:

Claude Louis is the Program and Outreach Coordinator on-site at Triangle Community Center. Claude has a background in mental health for adults and youth. Claude is an avid reader of comic books, a fan of New England Patriots football, believes Batman is better than Superman.

About the facilitator:

Katelyn Owens is the Program and Volunteer Coordinator on-site at Triangle Community Center. Katelyn is currently the TCC case manager and program facilitator for TCC's Bridgeport-based partnership with the Center for Family Justice where she meets with Bridgeport LGBTQ individuals for case management services. Katelyn has two cats, lives in New Haven, and loves spoken word poetry.

Transgender, Gender Nonconforming & Gender Questioning Youth Forum

Second and Last Sunday of Each Month

Free, Bi-monthly, No RSVP Required

About the program:

This is a bi-monthly support group providing youth ages 13-24 with an environment to discuss gender that meets on the second and last Sunday of each month.

This group welcomes anyone who identifies as transgender, gender queer, gender questioning, gender variant, gender nonconforming, and any other gender minority or creative identity. The group creates a safe space and supportive place to discuss the complexities of gender within one's personal life as well as other gender-related topics that come up in the media or elsewhere.

The first meeting of the month always coincides with a monthly meeting for parents, spouses, and families (PFLAG) in which participant's families are welcome to attend.

About the facilitator:

Micaela Scully, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker who comes from a background in mental health, addiction, as well as queer advocacy. Persons are welcome to contact Micaela with questions or concerns about this program, or to be added to the email list, at: micaelascully@gmail.com. Micaela is more than willing to speak to parents should a potential member or group member feel that would be helpful. Speaking to the family is not a requirement to come to this program.
