Anna Burns is TCC’s passionate Community Educator, with a demonstrated commitment to supporting the LGBTQ community through training and education. She earned her MSc in Psychology of Mental Health and her MA in Social Anthropology, both from The University of Edinburgh in Scotland where she lived for over six years. Before joining the team at TCC, Anna served as a trainer and leader at multiple suicide prevention hotlines both in the UK and the US, with a focus on serving LGBTQ young people. Additionally, she has spent years as a social activist, advocating for the liberation of marginalized bodies.
As Community Educator, Anna is responsible for engaging with the wider community to provide tailored educational opportunities and professional development surrounding LGBTQ cultural competency across Fairfield County. Further, she facilitates interactive workshops on sexual violence prevention for schools and teams through the Sexual Violence Prevention Collaborative of Fairfield County’s Coaches as Partners program.
In her free time, Anna enjoys playing the violin, writing, traveling, and spending time with her cat, Ru Paw.
